Goodbye, 2004

This will be my last post for this year. Later today I am off to Albuquerque to welcome 2005 at a good bar, something that is lacking back here at home. It's time for overly ambitious resolutions that will never be kept. One thing I do know for sure is that I will begin 2005 by getting rid of all of the things I don't need anymore. More on that in 2005. With that said, smell ya later, 2004!

Starsucks

I am writing this post from the Java Loft in Clovis, New Mexico. I sat here thinking to myself, "I feel like blogging, but I don't know what to write about." Having just audio chatted with George in Monteal, he gave me a great idea: write about why Starbucks sucks! Every other day it seems that George is at Starbucks, enjoying a wi-fi connection and coffee. But why Starbucks? It is my opinion that George should branch out and explore all of his options for getting caffeinated. At the time of this writing, I have never set foot in a Starbucks, nor do I ever plan on it. Take your neighborhood for example. Imagine your favorite local coffee shop. Odds are you love the atmosphere, the coffee, the people, or just the location. Now imagine a Starbucks moving in right next door. Suddenly there are too many people hoarding around your spot, paying twice as much for coffee that sucks just as bad, if not worse. Face it--Starbucks is the Microsoft of the coffee industry. And George, being the good Mac user that he is, should support a coffee underdog similar to the way he supports Apple's noble cause. What point am I trying to make with this post? I'm not too sure. But all people, Mac users specifically, should find places better than Starbucks to enjoy their brew of choice. Now I must get back to my over-priced but delicious chai latte.

Vacation Time

I have not had a chance to make a post after the show last Monday night, mostly because my domain name expired and I did not see the notice in my inbox. It took quite some time for DNS servers to update again, but everything is back up and running again. The Manson concert was quite possibly the best show I've ever been to! I did have really high expectations, however, which means I have to rate it a 9 out of 10. I don't think any of us were disappointed. I even bought an over-priced t-shirt for $27. The band played a great set, but the encore of "Antichrist Superstar" was by far the best. A very high-energy show, but too bad most of us got sick afterwards. Curses! Christmas is coming at the end of the week and I still can't believe it. I have done little shopping and I seemed to end up with an extra gift after getting in a huge fight with Amanda that ended with "I never want to talk to you again." I ordered my parents' gift of a 3-room DirecTV system with a TiVo receiver for the living room. Bye-bye VCR!!! I always seem to get my folks some new piece of technology that I'll have to spend all Christmas day teaching them how to use. Oh well, it's better than leaving them in the 20th Century. Other goals for vacation: read some books, digital photography, work on some music, and get the portfolio online (heard that last one before, haven't ya?).
